The Mega-Ray Basking Lamp D3 UV 160W is a mercury vapor lamp or UV mercury vapor lamp. In addition to visible light (4000 Kelvin), this lamp emits heat and ultraviolet radiation invisible to the human eye. Reptiles need the UV radiation present to stay healthy. The amount of UV radiation depends on the type of animal and their natural habitat.
The UVA light creates a natural-looking environment. The light ensures good recognition of conspecifics, other animals and food. The UVB rays present ensure a absorption of vitamin D3 in the body (via synthesis of the skin). D3 ensures that calcium is absorbed during digestion. By not exposing the animals to UVB radiation, a shortage of essential nutrients can occur and can lead to diseases, deformities or premature death due to housing errors.
The Mega-Ray Basking Lamp D3 UV 160W are equipped with a standard E27 connection and are therefore easy to install. The lamp can be used without ballast in a ceramic fitting. Various special luminaires are also available for the terrarium. For a luminaire, use a minimum diameter of 20 cm and place the lamp straight down to positively influence the life of the lamp.
Lifetime
The Mega-Ray Basking Lamp D3 UV 160W has a manufacturer’s warranty of 3 months from date of purchase, provided that the lamp is installed according to the supplied manual. The warranty is limited to replacing the lamp until the warranty period has expired.
The lamp must be replaced after ± 12 months, because the release of UV radiation has decreased to (the minimum).
