The Mega-Ray HID UV Lamp is a High Intensity Discharge lamp with an essential ratio between daylight (5000 Kelvin), heat and ultraviolet radiation invisible to the human eye. The UV radiation present needs reptiles and amphibians to stay healthy. The amount of UV radiation depends on the type of animal and their natural habitat.
The UVA light creates a natural-looking environment. The light ensures good recognition of conspecifics, other animals and food. The UVB rays present ensure a absorption of vitamin D3 in the body (via synthesis of the skin). D3 ensures that calcium is absorbed during digestion. By not exposing the animals to UVB radiation, a shortage of essential nutrients can occur and can lead to diseases, deformities or premature death due to housing errors.
The Mega-Ray HID UV Lamp are equipped with a standard E27 connection and should be used with a ceramic fitting and an extrane ballast!
Lifetime
The Mega-Ray HID UV Lamp has a manufacturer’s warranty of 3 months from the date of purchase, provided that the lamp is installed according to the supplied manual. The warranty is limited to replacing the lamp until the warranty period has expired.
The lamp needs to be replaced after ± 12 months, because the release of UV radiation has decreased.
